What is Semaglutide?
Semaglutide is an FDA-approved injectable weight loss medication that works by slowing the movement of food through the stomach, which may decrease appetite and cause weight loss. It is currently available under a few different brand names including: Ozempic and Wegovy.
Semaglutide is in a class of medications called incretin mimetics. Incretin mimetics activate GLP-1 receptors and inhibit glucagon secretion which in turn lowers blood sugar.
Another side effect of semaglutide is suppressed-appetite. This is why when Semaglutide is used along with a diet and exercise program it can lead to significant weight loss results.
